RAASTE KA PATHAR

Hello Bazaaris! Welcome to our Special Investigative Report where your very own Khabri will reveal the truth behind the construction noise in Bhendi Bazaar that has been the popular gupshup lately.

Last week while I was making my way back home, I caught a few bazaaris talking about feeling hassled with the loud construction noises in the night. Ibrahim Mansoori said “Yeh stone cutting machine ka awaaz kitna aata hai. Aadmi apne hi ghar main bhi sukoon ki neend nahi nikal pata.”

Asma Banu worried about her kids said- “Bacche log parhaai nahi kar pate, itna khatarnak awaaz hai. Din raat machine chalti rehti hai.”

Looking at this issue that locals were facing, we dug further into this matter. Your BBKC khabri went to the construction site and spoke to the on-site manager and a few workers. They initially declined to comment but we kept persisting with them to share details and find a solution to this issue. The interview led us to discover that a giant basalt rock was found while digging the ground. “Pathar kaafi bada hain. Aur usko todne ke liye heavy machine lagti hai jaise diamond cutter aur poclain breaker,” said the on-site manager.

Another local on condition of anonymity expressed, “subah se shaam tak  kaam chalu rehata hai. Samajh nahi aa raha andar kya chal raha hai.

On questioning this to the on-site manager, he replied, “shuru main yeh basalt rock todne main dikkat hui isliye din raat kaam ho raha tha. Magar ab sab normal ho gaya hai. Raat ko shor nahi hai.” He further added, “Kaam jald se jald pura ho yehi target se sara unit kaam kar raha hai.”

As construction activities around the city gradually resume and pick pace, we have noticed that this problem is not just with the Bhendi Bazaar area but other parts of Mumbai as well. Several residents from across the city have been reaching out to the officials around construction noise in their vicinity. In Bhendi Bazaar too, commencement of the next phase means a lot of hulchul and construction noise in the area.

If any of you have more about this to share or any story from the gallis of Bhendi Bazaar, write to us at bbkecharche@gmail.com
